Redeem was developed in recognition of the shortcomings of other Gift Card solutions which rely on the switching capabilities of the EFTPOS network. The inflexible and generic nature of the EFTPOS network prevents Gift Card merchants from being able to provide simple functions such as modifying receipt formats, providing terminal based Gift Card balance enquires, or printing the Gift Card's remaining funds. Some solutions also result in bank transaction fees being applied over and above the Gift Card provider's fees.
